Our purpose is to certify experienced groomers to a National Standard. Certification is designed for groomers to demonstrate a level of competency and professionalism in an unregulated industry, thereby helping to ensure a higher degree of skill and expertise.

About CPPS

The Canadian Professional Pet Stylists is the only Federally registered, not for profit certification association for Canine Pet Stylists in Canada.

Registered with the Canadian Government April 18, 2012. We are our own governing and registration body with a Board of Directors.

What We Do, and Why We Do It!

First of all, the Canadian Professional Pet Stylists is not a school. We provide certifications for dog groomers who have received formal training, are participating in an apprenticeship, or are self-taught. Our certification program assesses dog groomers who wish to enhance their skills to become Canine Stylists or Canine Master Stylists. Our written and practical exams are designed to a National Standard, so that each canine stylist is evaluated against their peers in three levels of certification.

Certifications are conducted to the highest standards of ethics and safety. The basis of the certifications is adherence to grooming styles built on a foundation of the breed standards of the Canadian Kennel Club.

We strive to continue sharing knowledge with groomers across Canada, as they work towards becoming a Canine Master Stylist.

Do I have to be a CPPS member to get Certified?

Yes, in order to participate in exams and become certified you need to be a member in "Good Standing".

I'm a Grooming School Student can I be a Member?

Yes you can. In fact to help you we have a first year Student Membership available at a discounted amount. You do have to verify what grooming school you are attending. Upon renewal of your membership you will pay regular renewal rate.

I'm an Apprentice, can I be a Member?

Yes you can. In fact to help you we have a first year Apprentice Membership available at a discounted amount. You do have to verify where you are apprenticing and who your mentor is. Upon renewal of your membership you will pay regular renewal rate.

Can I pay for someone's membership?

Each person needs to enroll individually as a member to place their membership under their account. In this way they will have a record of membership. We however encourage you to support your students or apprentices by assisting them. Many shops reimburse with proof of registration.
